Captains Cruise Past Rattlers

TWELVE DIFFERENT PLAYERS SCORE AS CAPTAINS ROUTE RATTLERS ON THE ROAD

The Clairemont boys were feeling it Friday evening in Tierrasanta, coming out the gate strong and never letting up against the Rattlers of Canyon Hills. The Captains opened up a 6-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to some excellent defense to quick transition plays that left the Rattlers reeling. The assault continued into the second quarter as the boys built up an impressive 11-3 lead heading into halftime. Senior Preston Coleman and Freshmen Ryder Sagastume each put up a first half hat trick to spearhead the offensive effort.

The Caps left no doubts in the third quarter with a massive 7-0 run to put the game far out of reach. Player of the game Junior Graham West put up a hat trick of his own in the 3rd quarter alone to go along with his team high 5 steals. Superb effort from the Captain goalies Junior Cullen Holland and Sophomore Derek Pryor, combining for 16 saves on 21 shots. Every Clairemont varsity player contributed to the win, including three players who scored their first ever varsity goals: Seniors Ian Spears and Gavin Botham as well as Sophomore Milo Friend. Senior Luis Pereya tallied a nice stat line with 1 goal, 2 assists, and a shot block in the 4th quarter to help secure the close out effort. Great team win and confidence booster heading into a tough 9 game stretch of strong competition over the next 2 weeks as the boys prepare for league play next month.
