The Varsity Girls Volleyball team has had an eventful few days!  After pool play on Friday, September 18 the Lady Captains were placed in the Silver Division of the annual Varsity Bucs Bash Tournament.  We started out the morning of September 19th with a match against Central High School.  We had seen them at a previous tournament and got the win, but we had a shaky start and dropped the first set.  The ladies regrouped and took the next two sets to move on to the semifinals.  We were up against Grossmont High for the 3rd time this season and got the W after an epic battle.  The finals saw us against the team from Costa Mesa High School and we beat them in two!  The team played great and it set us up well for our League home opener against Mira Mesa on Tuesday, September 22nd.  It was a close match but we won it in 4!  Riley Swartwood was tough at the service line scoring 18 points, 7 of which were service aces.  Emma Mello and Kylie Groark led the team in kills, 11 and 9 respectively.  Setter Kayden Magill even got up to hit a bit and had 3 kills.  This was a great way to start league play and set the tone for a run at a league championship!
